![]() ![]() Elmo has been with the party since they fought the ogre, so shouldn't he be of enough help to the party once the assassin makes his/her presence known?Ģ. Is there a "guideline" to determining he gear that the assassin has, or just randomly pick and choose, depending on the strength of the party?ģ. The rogue in the party decided to sell Lareth's necklace in Hommlett, thus incurring the wrath of the assassin npc. Theoretically, what level should the players be at this point in the campaign?Ģ. I have a couple of questions about this.ġ. Reverend_Shartan wrote:So, it has come time for the party to experience the wrath of the evil ones after defeating Lareth in the moathouse ruins. Even after the heroes have cleared the Temple, a one on one fight is probably going to kill at least one player. As soon as the thieves realized the jig was up, they ripped the necklace off her and try'd to run away.Ī 10th level Assassin is a bit much. After a few rounds, some of the other heroes came in to help her. Word spread to Nulb so thieves came to get it. The party's lone female was walking around for a week with the 15k necklace on. What I ended up doing was sending in two 5th level thieves. So chances are, its going to be a one on one or two on one fight with a high level character. If anything, I wasn't in the mood to watch over everyone reroll new characters.Īlso, the rooms at the Inn of the Welcome Wench don't really look like they'd fit an entire party. I had some serious doubts about sending a 10th level Assassin to the Inn of the Welcome Wench. My heroes are all fourth level (I started them at 2nd). Possibly I might make it a lower-level assassin, something the PCs can potentially handle. An intelligently played 10th level assassin should probably be able to whack an entire 3rd level party without breaking a sweat (and dumb assassins don't make it to 10th level), and unavoidable death sentences are no fun. Could be fun for the DM to plan out different assassination methodologies before the party is able to ID which stranger in town is the assassin or where the assassin is based out of. The party would have to enlist some higher level help available in town to help stop the assassin before they were all picked off, as well as being super paranoid, probably losing spell casting ability and some other consequences due to not being able to sleep. Assassins would probably pick people off one by one, after first carefully tracking their movements. I think it's supposed to be of a town adventure type thing. It's one thing to put one in a dungeon, but even a low-level assassin using stuff like poison (even if it's only on weapons) against an unsuspecting party can be pretty tough. ![]()
